Short Notes

SHORT NOTES!

ATTENDANCE

Being in school every day means your child won't miss out on learning.  Try to schedule appointments and family trips outside of school hours.  If your child asks to stay home "just because" remind them of what they will miss, such as reading group or PE.  Explain they can be absent only if they are sick or in the event of family emergencies.

DID YOU KNOW?

Children who regularly eat meals with their families tend to do better in school and avoid risky behavior.  Eating dinner together is great, but other meals work great as well.  If you work at night, maybe you could make time for a family breakfast  or a weekend picnic lunch!

CELEBRATE SUCCESS!

Suggest your child create a fun reminder of all the things they have accomplished.  Create an "I DID IT" box, and when the accomplish different skills in school, or outside of school they can write a short note and put them into the box.  Whenever they feel down on themselves they can open the box and read all the things they have accomplished, which is a great way to lift them up!
