AR Reading

"Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body." - Joseph Addison

AR Project

During this school year, you will be given an AR Project to complete each quarter, and therefore, you will be busy doing plenty of reading.  Some of you may panic, because you may think that you do not like to read.  The key to enjoy reading is to pick books that interest you.

Here are the requirements for AR Project

  • You can read books in your range or higher*
  • You will read/take AR tests throughout the year to earn points.  Based on your reading level and goal, I have set an amount of points for you to reach during this quarter.
  • You will take AR tests in my classroom only.
  • You must have the book with you and I will put in a password on the iPad before you take the test.

One thing I would like to stress for AR projects is that what is fair is not always equal.  Every student’s goal is individualized to meet his or her needs, so what you may be doing for your project will be different from what another student is doing.

Drop EVERYTHING and Read!

Sometimes, at the start of class, the students and I will be dropping everything else we have to do and taking some time to read for enjoyment.  This should help give students time for their project.  However, they will also need to be reading outside of the classroom.
